Why do we give tithes and offerings?

Tithes and offerings are more than just a way to support your church, they are way to offer back to God, in worship, a portion of all that God has given to you.

God has called His people to give, throughout scripture, Old and New Testament we see God’s people give through tithes and offerings. He calls us to give; to give out of our abundance and our poverty. He, also, call us to give with joy in worship for all that He has provided.

“Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”  (2 Corinthians 9:6-8)

Also in scripture we read,

In Jesus’ time at the synagogue, He witnessed the generosity given by a widow that had little. “Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents. Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, ‘Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into he treasury than all the others. They all gave out of the wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything- all she had to live on.'” (Mark 12:41-44)

Christ’s Family Church uses tithes and offerings to support our General Fund. This fund pays for all of our day-to-day expenses of operating the church including pastor’s salary, building expenses, material costs, etc. In addition, we strive to send a percent of all that we receive in tithes and offerings out to global and local mission initiatives.
